Privacy Policy

Last updated October 20, 2026

Garage Health doesn't need an account, and has no ads, analytics or trackers. Your garage is stored on your iPhone and, if you use iCloud, in your own iCloud account. We never see it. Other information leaves your device only when you use a feature that needs it, and only what that feature needs.

Who we are

Garage Health is made by Langsam LLC, a New York limited liability company ("we", "us"). This policy covers the Garage Health app for iPhone and its web version. Questions about privacy go to contact@garagehealthapp.com.

Your garage: on your device and in your iCloud

Everything you enter is stored in the app's storage on your device, and we have no way to see it:

  • Your vehicles, including any VIN you enter
  • Mileage, service history (including any price and ZIP code you add to a service) and custom maintenance intervals
  • App settings, your Ask AI question count, and whether you have Premium

iCloud sync. If you're signed in to iCloud, the iPhone app also keeps a copy of your vehicles, mileage, service history and custom intervals in your own iCloud account, using Apple's iCloud key-value storage. That's how your garage carries over to a new iPhone. Apple stores this copy under your Apple Account, and Apple's privacy policy covers it. It never passes through Garage Health's servers, and we can't see it. Your Ask AI question count, Ask AI permission and app settings stay on each device.

The web version of Garage Health keeps your garage only in your browser on that device.

Deleting your data. "Delete All My Data" in the app's Garage tab erases your garage from your device and, in the iPhone app, from your iCloud. It also deletes every owner report, price and problem report this device shared (see below) from the Garage Health data server. Deleting the app removes the copy on your phone, but the copy in iCloud stays so your garage comes back if you reinstall. To remove that too, use Delete All My Data before deleting the app.

"Export My Data" saves a file to a place you choose, and "Import Data" reads only a file you pick.

Information that leaves your device

Some features need to contact an outside service. Each one sends only what it needs, and only when you use it:

  • Ask AI. Your typed question and your car's year, make, model, trim and mileage are sent over an encrypted connection to the Garage Health server (hosted by Cloudflare). The server forwards them to Anthropic, the company that makes the Claude AI model, which writes the answer. The request does not include your name, email or VIN. Please don't type personal details into a question. The app asks for your permission before sending your first question, and you can turn this off at any time in the app's Legal & Privacy screen. To enforce the question limit, the app also sends a random ID it created for this device (not linked to you or your Apple ID). The server keeps only a count of questions for that ID for the current day or week, and deletes it after two days (eight days for a weekly count). That ID is not sent to Anthropic.
  • Photos in Ask AI. A photo you attach is shown as a preview on your device only. It is not uploaded or sent anywhere.
  • VIN decoding and model lists. To decode a VIN, the app sends only that VIN to the vPIC service run by the U.S. National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA). To list models, it sends only the make and year.
  • Camera. When you scan a VIN barcode, the camera image is processed on your device. Video is never recorded or uploaded.
  • Maintenance schedules and Known Issues. To show this information, the app sends your car's year, make and model (nothing else: not your VIN, mileage or service history) to the Garage Health data server (hosted by Cloudflare) and saves the answer on your device. The server doesn't keep a record of these requests.
  • "It happened to my car" (optional). If you tap this on a Known Issue, the app sends that issue, the mileage you enter, and your car's year, make and model to the Garage Health data server. Other owners see only totals and a typical mileage range, and only once at least five owners have reported the same issue. You can remove your report at any time from the same card.
  • Sharing what you paid (optional). When you log a service, you can add the price you paid and your ZIP code. Both stay on your device. Only if you turn on "Share the price anonymously" does the app send the service type, the price, your car's year, make and model, and the first 3 digits of your ZIP code (never the full ZIP, your location or your notes) to the Garage Health data server. Other owners see only price ranges, and only once at least five prices have been shared for that car and service.
  • "Report a problem" (optional). Under Known Issues, you can tell us about a problem that isn't listed for your car by choosing a category and the specific problem (for example, Transmission, then Slipping), entering the mileage and, if you like, adding a short note (up to 200 characters). The app sends only those, and your car's year, make and model, to the Garage Health data server. Please don't put names, phone numbers or other personal details in a note. These reports go privately to the Garage Health team to research problems for each car and are never shown to other owners.
  • How shared reports are stored. Owner reports and prices are stored without your name, email, VIN, IP address or Apple ID. Each one is saved with a scrambled (one-way hashed) form of this device's random ID, so each device counts once and can remove what it shared. To limit abuse, the server keeps a hashed count of how many reports come from each IP address per day, and deletes those counts after two days. Shared reports are kept until you remove them, delete the car they belong to, or use "Delete All My Data".
  • Garage Health Premium (optional, iPhone app). Premium is a subscription sold through the App Store. Apple handles the payment; we never receive your name, email, payment details or Apple Account. To unlock Premium and restore it on a new iPhone, the app uses RevenueCat, a subscription service, which receives this device's random ID, your App Store purchase and subscription details (which plan, purchase and renewal dates, and the App Store transaction information), and basic technical details such as your country or region, app version and iOS version. If you have Premium, the Ask AI server checks that random ID with RevenueCat to apply the Premium question limit, and remembers the answer for up to six hours. RevenueCat's own privacy policy covers the information it processes. Subscriptions are managed and canceled in your Apple Account settings.
  • Find a Mechanic (iPhone app). The shop search runs in Apple Maps from your iPhone. If you search near you, the app asks for your location (only while you're using the app) and sends it, along with the kind of shop you picked (for example, brake repair), to Apple to find nearby shops. If you type a ZIP code or town instead, that is sent to Apple. None of this is sent to Garage Health's servers or stored by the app, and Apple's privacy policy covers what Apple receives. You can turn Location off for Garage Health at any time in your iPhone's Settings.
  • Resale Health Report. The report (your car's details, full VIN, mileage and service history) is created as a PDF on your device. It isn't uploaded anywhere. It goes only where you choose to send or save it.
  • Links to other apps and sites. Tapping a link to Apple Maps, Google Maps, Waze, Yelp or YouTube (for example, Directions to a shop) opens that service, and its own privacy policy applies.

Like any internet request, these services and our hosting provider can see your device's IP address when a feature contacts them.

What we don't do

  • We don't use analytics, advertising or tracking of any kind.
  • We don't sell or share your information for advertising.
  • We don't build profiles of you or link your activity across apps or websites.

Children

Garage Health is not directed at children under 13, and we don't knowingly collect information from them.

This website

garagehealthapp.com does not use cookies, analytics or third-party scripts. It is served by Cloudflare, which processes visitors' IP addresses to deliver and protect the site.

Changes to this policy

If Garage Health starts collecting anything new, such as optional sign-in accounts, we will update this policy and the copy inside the app before that feature ships. The date at the top shows the latest version.
